More vaccinations now available at participating pharmacies

Community pharmacies will now be able to administer some Government-funded vaccines including human papillomavirus, meningococcal ACWY, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccines and adult Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR).

All vaccines can be administered by trained pharmacists as part of the vaccine expansion.

Pharmacies will need to pre-order the vaccines, so people are encouraged to book in advance with participating pharmacies.

With international travel having resumed, MMR vaccination is particularly important to ensure Western Australians visiting countries with endemic measles are adequately protected.

COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters for people five years and older will also continue through participating community pharmacies.

Community pharmacists provided more than a million COVID-19 vaccinations and more

than one in five influenza jabs over winter.

Comments attributed to Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

"Community pharmacies play an important role in our everyday lives and have been a valuable partner in our COVID-19 response by helping boost vaccinations in the community.

"We want to provide plenty of options to help families stay up to date with vaccines to give Western Australians the best protection against serious disease.

"This expanded program will ensure more Western Australians can access vaccines against preventable diseases."
